Diamond Packaging of Rochester, NY won four awards in the 14th Annual FSEA Gold Leaf Awards Competition, the industry's premier showcase for foil stamping and embossing designs and techniques. Awards were announced at the IADD-FSEA Odyssey 2007, held May 2-4, 2007 in Milwaukee, WI. The competition, which is sponsored by the Foil Stamping & Embossing Association (FSEA), recognizes creativity and superior execution of designs that reflect positively on the industry as a whole. Entries are judged on criteria including design, execution, and level of difficulty. Winning an award is a mark of excellence in the packaging field and recognition of superior achievement. Competing against hundreds of entries from around the country, Diamond earned recognition by winning three Gold Leaf awards and one Silver Leaf award.

Diamond Packaging Wins Coveted
AmeriStar Award -- Diamond Packaging of Rochester, NY earned recognition in the prestigious 2006 AmeriStar Package Awards Competition sponsored by the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP). Competing against hundreds of entries from packaging and design firms from around the country, Diamond won an award for the Redken Bulk Up Counter Display produced for Redken Laboratories, Inc. This year's AmeriStar Award winners were selected by a panel of 23 experienced packaging professionals. Entries were rated on six criteria: innovation, product protection, economics, package performance, marketing, and environmental impact. Winning the award is a mark of excellence in the packaging field and recognition of superior achievement. Diamond Packaging Receives Highest Recognition in Best Workplace in the Americas Competition --Diamond Packaging of Rochester, NY has again been recognized as "Best of the Best" in the 2006 Best Workplace in the Americas awards competition, sponsored by the Printing Industries of America (PIA) and Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF). Diamond Packaging Wins 13 Awards
In 2006 NPA Packaging Competition -- Diamond Packaging of Rochester, NY earned 13 awards in the prestigious 56th Annual National Paperbox Association (NPA) Packaging Competition. Awards were announced at the Association's 2006 Annual Meeting, held June 24-27, 2006 in Quebec City, Canada. The NPA Awards Competition is the foremost packaging competition in the rigid box and folding carton industry, and is an opportunity to showcase the most innovative and distinctive designs produced over the last year. Winning one of the coveted NPA awards is a mark of excellence in the packaging field and recognition of superior achievement. This year's competition was held in conjunction with Packaging Strategies and its PackageDesign'06 Conference and Exhibition. The Association's Packaging Competition debuted as part of the PackageDesign "Packaging Inspiration Exhibition" at this national designers conference. Diamond Packaging's winning submissions competed against hundreds of entries from around the world. The company was honored with two Gold Awards and 11 Excellence Awards.

SEAL-IT INTRODUCES EARTHFIRST® TDO PLA SHRINK FILM
Seal-It, Inc is very excited to introduce Plastic Suppliers EarthFirst ® TDO Shrink film, to our existing group of shrink films, PVC, PETG & OPS. This new film made from with Natureworks® PLA corn based resin, is not petroleum based and is environmentally friendly and compostable. It is heat shrinkable and suitable for any shrink sleeve label project.
For the last 20 years, Seal-It has manufactured shrink labels and tamper-evident bands from PVC, PETG & OPS. EarthFirst is a great addition to our family of films. Each film has its own special characteristics, which lends itself to specific projects. EarthFirst has many of the same properties as other films including excellent machineability, clarity, printability (can be printed to 10 colors in rotogravure or modified flexographic), and shrinkage (up to 75%). EartFirst film is different in that it is made from an annually renewable resource, corn. With the addition of EarthFirst our customers, with our help can make the decision as to what film is best suited for their needs. Global Packaging Alliance
Holds Annual Meeting in Japan
The Global Packaging Alliance (GPA) held its annual meeting in Nagoya, Japan during the week of January 23, 2006. With members convening from all over the world, the yearly event was a much-anticipated chance to discuss strategies and goals, and provided an opportunity for alliance members to evaluate potential partnerships to supply the world's second-largest economy.
The meeting opened with a full agenda dedicated to expanding GPA's global presence. Among the topics addressed were: packaging trends, technical developments, investments, and benchmarking productivity measures.
GPA members visited several facilities in Osaka and Tokyo to assess which companies best complement the GPA's current network in terms of management philosophy, technical capabilities, and markets served. The meeting also provided an opportunity to evaluate the latest in packaging technology.
The official opening of DuPont's Research and Development Laboratory in China was announced on April 26, 2006. Located in Shanghai, the facility is the latest laboratory that supports customers in the packaging, consumer goods and industrial markets globally on R&D activities - specifically around developing innovative solutions to boost their business growth. The Shanghai facility joins other DuPont R&D facilities in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Japan.

PPA Announces Spring 2006 Packaging Scholarship Award Recipients The Paperboard Packaging Alliance (PPA) today announced recipients of five $1,000 university scholarship awards as part of its program supporting university packaging programs. Scholarship awardees were selected by their schools and met the following eligibility requirements: junior or senior, in good academic standing (at least a 3.0 GPA), demonstrated financial need, and pursuing a degree in packaging.
Spring 2006 scholarship award recipients included: Allison Bebee, Rochester Institute of Technology; Rachel Duffy, University of Wisconsin Stout; Ryan Martin, Clemson University; Chris Starnes, California Polytechnic State University; AuBree Taylor, Michigan State University.
One of the PPA's goals is to increase awareness of the paperboard packaging industry with future packaging decision makers. The PPA is building a partnership with the university community by providing opportunities, information and resources to students and faculty. ISPE-PCC Announces Certified Pharmaceutical Industry Professional™ (CPIP™ ) Eligibility Criteria
The ISPE Professional Certification Commission (PCC) today announced the eligibility criteria for the Certified Pharmaceutical Industry Professional (CPIP), a new competency-based pharmaceutical industry credential. The CPIP is the first professional certification for pharmaceutical professionals worldwide covering the range of disciplines from drug product development through manufacturing. "The global pharmaceutical industry is increasingly challenged to find innovative solutions for improving product safety and quality, product development, and manufacturing," said Jerry Roth, PE, ISPE's Director of Professional Certification." The CPIP credential recognizes those professionals that possess the diverse industry experience and knowledge necessary to foster innovation in the pharmaceutical industry. This recognition is what separates the CPIP apart from other professionals."
Seal-It named top company by Diversity Business.com
For the second year, Farmingdale, NY-based converter Seal-It, Inc., has been named to the Div 500 list of "Top-Owned Businesses" by Diversity Business.com. In addition, Seal-It has been named to Diversity Business.com's list of the "Top 500 Women Owned Companies in the USA."
The label printer and converter will be honored at an awards event in May 2006, which is expected to bring together the nation's top entrepreneurs and their corporate partners. This event promotes multicultural business opportunities.

New Trade Show Launched for
Distributors and Suppliers of Packaging Products,
Equipment & Supplies
The NPTA Alliance, the major trade association representing the $60 billion distribution industry for paper, packaging materials, systems and supplies, recently announced that it will launch a new trade show for the industry next year. This new event, named DistriPakUSAT: The Packaging Materials & Systems Marketplace, will be co-located with the very successful ISSA/INTERCLEAN® trade show, which draws more than 16,000 attendees and is presented by the ISSA®, the leading association for the cleaning industry in more than 83 countries. Both events will be held in Chicago, October 4-7, 2006 (Exhibit Days: October 5-7). DistriPakUSA will be held annually on the same dates as ISSA/INTERCLEAN® and at the same locations.
DistriPakUSA will focus on packaging materials and supplies, including the equipment utilized by packagers, packaging systems and support, plus shipping room supplies and foodservice packaging materials handled by distributors. The show is open to distributors, suppliers, manufacturers' reps and others, and features the materials needed by tens of thousands of companies throughout North America to package, handle, ship and store their products.

Diamond worked closely with the Coty design team from the beginning, ensuring that the packaging reflected the celebrity's personality and style.

Diamond employed special graphic techniques for the gift set packaging, elevating a standard tuck carton to an unprecedented level. The cartons feature .024 SBS paperboard complemented by embossing and gold foil accents around the window and for the stars, which are prominently displayed on the carton. The gold stars, which are meant to represent studs, connect the package to both the country-western image of Shania Twain and to the Stetson brand.
Univenture, Inc., an award winning inventor and
manufacturer of a wide array of media packaging solutions, announced
that its UniKeep(R) Disc 10 Wallet, with the company's patented
Safety-sleeve(R) disc pages, is now being used by Maxell Europe
for retail packaging of selected Maxell DVD recordable products.

Global Packaging Alliance (GPA) announced that
they have added a new partner in Latin America by signing an agreement
with Cartmont Packaging, located in Tlalnepantla,
Mexico. Cartmont Packaging is one of the leading folding carton

consumer electronics and food and beverage industries.
TricorBraun and Smith Container Corporation today
jointly announced TricorBraun's acquisition of Smith Container,
an Atlanta-based distributor with $55 million in revenue. The transaction
expands and diversifies TricorBraun's business base in Atlanta,
GA; Charlotte, NC; Orlando, FL; Greenville, SC; Tampa, FL; Memphis,
TN; Dallas, TX and Tulsa, OK. "We are very pleased to welcome Smith
Container to the TricorBraun family," said Keith J. Strope, president
