Packaging Horizons
China Welcomes Women in Packaging
It
is my great pleasure to welcome the North American and
International Women in Packaging professionals to visit
China in the spring of 1998 on behalf of China Women's
Association for Science and Technology (CWAST), China
Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and its
affiliated packaging societies.
CWAST, which is under the leadership of China Association for Science & Technology, is a federation for Chinese professional and business women who work not only in scientific and technological research but also in the fields of education, administration, management and other businesses. With this broad relationship, CWAST would be most honored to coordinate the professional packaging meetings and site visits, as well as the meetings on women's business issues.
Chinese business women now enjoy equal opportunities with men in all walks of life. Especially since the 4th World Conference on Women in 1995, where CWAST worked closely with other women's organizations to promote the advancement of women according to the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
My colleagues and I look at the visit to China by Women in Packaging as an exciting opportunity to learn about women in business in North America and internationally, and to establish long-term future contacts. I hope, by your visit to China, we will gain mutual understanding and cooperation of our two sides, which will not only be achieved through technical issues, but also through common social issues.
